March 30, 2016Daisy, Daffy and Bill arrived home in style March 28th. As usual Daisy wanted a quiet return home and a few days to get settled. Our interview went well. All three ducks are now seasoned travelers and the trip home was no longer an adventure. Daisy had a great time visiting with Skip as Bill and Daffy slept. Daisy had Skip drive thru Cloudcroft. She was amazed at the new Electric Co-op building. After Skip got everyone settled at home Daisy again exclaimed it was a great winter resort but there is no place like home. All three ducks explored their pond and rested. Daisy misses her bunco friends, but they all promised to visit Ponderosa Pines. Apparently Vi, one of Daisy’s closest friends has family that live year round on the Rio Penasco near mile marker 13 on Hwy 130. Vi claims they are the “wild” side of the family and always ready for a good time. Vi and Daisy think a party would be good for Daffy as he lead a very exciting life at the foul resort. As everyone knows Daffy loves a good time. According to Daisy he had invitations to “fly arounds” and “soaring.” He became quite competitive and could hold his own with Mexican Eagles and the many ravens that wintered at the resort. The ravens taught him to find shiny objects and how to observe the area around the resort. He soon learned the train schedules. His best buddy, Arturo (a raven naturally) convinced him to hop a freight train and go to Tularosa. Daisy said it was just awful everyone at the resort was sure they would never return. The two buddies loved Tularosa and stayed too long outside Casa de Sueno taking hand outs and missed the train home. They had to fly and of course found many things to see along the way….even stopping at the wineries. Daisy said everyone had a good laugh when they finally returned. Daisy made friends with several exotic chickens. The foul at the resort could not understand why the chickens were there and of course Daisy was the only one who could speak chicken. The chickens explained they had a very nice roost at a very nice house but they could hear all the fun at the resort and decided to visit. Naturally they could not find their way home. Daisy helped as she could speak all the bird/foul languages. The few snow geese who had found their way to the resort from Canada helped the chickens get home after several fly overs of Alamogordo. Bill was the first to meet the snow geese and loved the stories of their annual migration to the Bosque del Apache and back to Canada. They were very adventuresome and visited several Bosque’s and foul resorts. Bill enjoyed the stories but had no thoughts of joining in their fly arounds. He much preferred to play dominos with two crows and an egret that lived year round at the resort. Daisy said everyday was exciting and she especially was glad to be home to the quiet of their pond. So many of their new friends plan to visit Ponderosa Pines Pond….watch for them!!!!
