Please welcome two new full-time residents to Ponderosa Pines! Bill and Daisy Duck joined us late last year
and enjoy spending time in and around the pond. When the cold of winter set in and the pond became lightly frozen, night time would find Bill and Daisy walking in the moonlight out on the pond. While this
may have been romantic, the main reason was survival from predators. Skip and Caryn realized something must be done. The Save-A-Duck club was formed to help our new residents survive the winter. A "duck condo" was build complete with a straw bed, central air conditioning and heat provided by heat lamps.
Plenty of food and water is always available. Members of the SAD Club have been busy almost daily checking in on our friends. We'd thank the Thayers' for allowing the Ducks to stay under the covered parking across from the pond during the winter months. Daisy shows her appreciation by regularly laying eggs and Bill seem content pecking on Daisy's head. Rumor has it when warmer weather returns, Daisy may have ducklings! So, if you're in the neighborhood, please stop by and say hello to Bill and Daisy and welcome them to Ponderosa Pines!
